The Ultrapure is a six filter, seven stage system featuring dual carbon (granulated and carbon block), dual one micron (sediment and carbon block), KDF media, fluoride filtration and .2 Micron Ultra Filtration that filters 99% of bacteria, purifying water without the use of harmful chemicals. Like all OPUS water systems, the Ultrapure leaves calcium and magnesium in solution for a great tasting healthful water.
The Opus Ultrapure adds .2 micron ultra filtration technology, effective in the removal of bacteria, pathogens, high molecular weight dissolved solids. Contaminants and bacteria are removed to an extremely high level, yet healthful minerals are retained. Compared to RO systems, minerals are retained, and there is no danger of bacterial, fungal, or mold contamination, as there is no TFC membrane, holding tank, or flexible bladder.
Stage 1: 5 Micron Dirt/Rust/Sediment Filter – Horizontally Mounted Inline
This filter is designed to remove dirt, rust, sediment, and other contaminants and to prevent these contaminants from affecting the efficiency of the fluoride, KDF media, and granulated activated carbon filters. In normal use replace every 6-12 months. If the water flow at the faucet drops significantly it is time to replace this filter.
Stage 2: Fluoride Filtration
Fine mesh activated alumina provides effective removal of fluoride and arsenic. Rated at 10,000 gallons, replace this filter every two years under normal household use.
Stage 3 and 4: 2.5 Pounds KDF Media, 1 pound Granulated Activated Carbon (GAC)
KDF Media (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) is a blend of zinc/copper media that safely removes chlorine, iron, hydrogen sulfide, nitrates, nitrites, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, mercury, manganese, nickel, lead, trichloroethane, lindane, chloroform, and fluoride. When combined with granulated activated carbon, a synergistic effect is produced that is greater than either material alone. Replace this filter every two years with normal household use.
Most water filter manufacturers that include KDF Media in their filter design use ½ pound of media. The quantity of KDF media used in the UltraPure (2.5 pounds) is the highest amount available in a 10” water filter design, and should provide effective contaminant removal for a large family for over two years. The KDF/GAC filter is placed after the fluoride filter to ensure that any particles or fines from the fluoride filter will be absorbed by the KDF/Carbon filter.
Stage 5: 1 Micron Pleated Filter
The purpose of the 1 Micron pleated filter is to ensure that no particles from Stage 2 (fluoride filter) or Stage 3&4 KDF/granulated activated carbon) can reach the final 1 micron carbon block lead cyst polishing filter (Stage 6).
The installation process includes flushing the fluoride and KDF/GAC filters (Stage 2, 3 and 4) prior to the installation of this filter. Replace this filter every year, with Stage 1 and Stage 6.
Stage 6: – .2 Micron Ultra Filter – Horizontally Mounted Inline
Stage 6 is the revolutionary .2 Micron Ultra Filtration inline unit. Ultra Filtration uses membrane technology to reject contaminants as small as .01 microns, however we conservatively rate the UF filter in our system at .2 microns and larger. Mounted horizontally and connected to the 1 Micron Carbon block final stage, this filter effectively removes bacteria, pathogens, high molecular weight dissolved solids and other water contaminants of concern while allowing healthy minerals and ions through.
Stage 7: 1 Micron Carbon Block Taste and Odor – Horizontally Mounted Inline
The Stage 7 filter is superior to most home water filtration systems, and is used to put a final finishing polish on the water, providing the ultimate in filtered, purified water. This unit is connected with plastic clips to the 5 micron Omnipure horizontally mounted inline sediment filter and the .2 Micron Ultra Filtration inline filter. The 3 Foot Blue Plastic ¼ ID Tubing is attached to the output of stage 7, and then to the supplied faucet. Replace this filter every year. THIS HORIZONTAL FILTER IS LABELED STAGE 7, OUTPUT.
The Opus Ultrapure utilizes state of the art technologies to make this system one of the finest water filtration and purification systems available.
